Alabama will have to wait at least one more week to show off its new lights in Bryant-Denny Stadium.

After a delay in the kickoff times for the Sept. 21 games, the TV networks released the roster for SEC games.

Alabama’s game with visiting Southern Miss will kick off at 11 a.m. CT on either ESPN or ESPN2. The first home game with New Mexico State was a 3 p.m. kick last Saturday and this week’s visit to South Carolina will begin at 2:30 p.m. CT.

Alabama-Southern Miss: Week 4 kickoff time, TV channel announced
xNo. 2-ranked Alabama’s Week 4 home game against Southern Miss on Saturday, Sept. 21, will kick off at 11 a.m. CT and will air on ESPN or ESPN2, the Southeastern Conference announced Monday.
The Golden Eagles have posted a 1-1 record to begin their season, recently losing to Mississippi State on the road by a score of 38-15 this past weekend. Southern Miss opened its 2019 campaign with a 38-10 win over Alcorn State. This weekend, USM travels to face the Troy Trojans.

Alabama and Southern Miss will meet for the 43rd time in series history in two weeks. The Crimson Tide owns the all-time advantage, 34-6-2, and won the most recent meeting between the two, 52-12, in Tuscaloosa in 2014. This year’s game will also be played at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

The Golden Eagles ended their 2018 season with a 6-5 (3-5 C-USA) record, and they welcomed back 15 starters from last year’s team, including nine on the offensive side of the football. Head coach Jay Hopson is in his fourth year leading the program and has a 22-17 (15-9 C-USA) record.

This week, the Crimson Tide will travel to Columbia, S.C., to face the South Carolina Gamecocks. Kickoff for Alabama’s first SEC game is set for 2:30 p.m. CT and the game will air on CBS.

The good news is that improves the chances of Ole Miss being at night with the new lights. Other games that day include Texas A&M vs. Arkansas (Arlington), Mississippi State at Auburn, Towson at Florida, Kentucky at South Carolina, Northern Illinois at Vanderbilt. Since Alabama has the CBS game on the 14th, CBS will likely go to Auburn or Arlington.

James Spann announces that it will be “hotter than 3 Hells” for that Saturday.

ESPN responds, “Let’s schedule them for an 11 o’clock kickoff!! Sounds reasonable. We can then get Saban to bitch about fan attendance and students staying for 4 quarters since the team is expected to play for 4 quarters!”

This shit sucks donkey balls!!

Maybe
But really its just starting to get hot. The 330 start
In sept would suck more
Like last week
And long term forcast is much cooler ( but still hot as hell)

But looking at schedule opportunities......
330 wouldnt be better....and AU n AnM have it in Texas....
Night was UGA n ND.....
So really wasnt a sec game opportunity for night game...
So....get back to rv in time to see 2 good games...IN AIR CONDITIONING

I emailed the athletic department about an idea.

The could make a mesh net (similar to trampoline), like what is over the bleachers at little league ball parks.

They could attach this to a pulley system above the lights in the top of the stadium and cover the entire football field and stands, for games like this. Would cut the sun down and could make the east side bearable with out having to burn out your retina's staring into the great fireball setting in the west. Could prove to be beneficial on rainy days as well. I got an immediate reply, but that doesn't mean anything. I know this wouldn't be cheap, but would probably be cheaper than all those empty seats.

I really don't know what to make of that article. UA officials are hand wringing over the heat? It's September in Alabama. They act like they have never had to deal with this before. Shoot, it may be blazing hot come November. The south doesn't really cool down until around January
About five years ago, maybe a little longer, LSU complained to the SEC offices about their games being in the daytime. The SEC caved and LSU gets all these games at night now.

We talked about 2010 yesterday and the number of weeks off, remember. This is no different in that Bama has had its TV schedule slated the vast majority of the time to day games. There is a big discrepancy in the number of night games other SEC teams have versus the ones Bama has had. The fact that any game has to be played in weather where there is a heat warning has to be considered. They stop for lightening which can, of course, kill people. Well, ya know the thing about heat?

WVUA reported there was a record number of heat related emergencies called in Saturday.

Some in the national media are making a joke about this. Klatt decided to show his ass about this yesterday and here's the brutal truth.

Brando, the idiot that he is, said it was because of competition. Was it? Well, let's look at LSU, shall we?

LSU non-P5 gms in Sept. since ‘14:

Ga South (6:30)
NW State (6:30)
SE La (6)
La Tech (6)
BYU (8:30)
UT-Chatt (6:30)
Troy (6)
Jax St (6)
McNeese (6:30)
Sam Houston St (6:30)
La Monroe (6)
NM St (6:30)

Cecil brought up the discrepancy this past weekend.

Now, in a sense Bama is a victim of their own success. The networks know that Bama draws viewers. Bama vs New Mexico State is going to pull, LSU vs New Mexico State in the same slot won't get the number of viewers. (Remember, largest viewership of college football if found in Birmingham.)

Then again, in past seasons, while it's been hot in September, it was probably manageable, to some extent. This September there have been excessive heat warnings on game days. I didn't think about that. This year, the intense heat from June, July, and August has stayed in place, where in years past, while it was hot in September, it was more like high 80's-low 90's. This year, it's more into the upper 90's, something that would be seen in July or August. October may not be much better.

This is also a by-product of the championship games and moving to a 12 game schedule. In another thread we talked about the 1989 team being honored this past weekend. Their first game was 9/16.

I do not think in the past Saban would not have mentioned this. Seems like external factors that we just need to move on from. it is what it is. Yes its hot, always has been in Alabama in September. Not surprised the media is poking fun at the bama administration.
