Watching the LSU-AU game last night I heard numerous mentions of the importance of big, strong, and FAST Defensive Linemen, and then how these teams had these in mass. In the face of this dominance the teams rolled QBs out.

Advantages to this include buying time enough for the receivers to attempt deeper routes, allowed the QB to avoid hits when passing shorter routes, and making DLs run, run, run. At this point, the defensive counter-counter to the offense' counter  is to platoon the DL goons.

Issue: If/When UGA does this, do we have the horses to counter-counter? And, can our DBs cover well/long enough to buy the DL the time to run down Stafford?

i think our DL will be just fine. if there is any chink in UGA's armor, it is their OL in pass protection. i don't think their strength is running between the tackles all that often either. we have done a good job of sealing off the edges so far, and hopefully that will continue. if they insist on running, if we can force them to run it straight at us they will be in for a long day. hopefully then we can force them to abandon the run and then that simplifies the game plan greatly.

we should be good on the DB situation. i think you will see some blitz packages that you have not seen before this season, and there has definitely been some plays held out on defense. keep in mind we have only truly blitzed a handful of times this season. while our DL isn't a sack machine, they do a good job of consistantly disrupting the backfield and pocket. disrupting the pocket should give the DBs a little margin of error and disrupting the backfield should give the LBs and DBs plenty of time to support.

this game will come down to who makes the most mistakes. i think it will be a fairly even matchup on both sides, edge to UGA though with it being at home.
