šŸˆ Steve Spurrier to @pat_dooley about QB Arch Manning: (Overrated?)

College Football Smh GIF by ESPN

When TX was going through their 7-7's last summer, around this time actually, Arch was on the same level as Ty. Neither were consistent, both had problems with reads: neither were ready.

I don't know what the fall holds for either. We all know what Ty is capable of because we hear things from the practice fields. I've not heard a lot out of TX so far this summer.

So if Texas loses 2 or 3 games this year, will they blame Arch or will they blame the coach?

That's a lot of pressure to put on a player who hasn't really had any significant playing time. If he keeps a level head and doesn't let it get to him, he may be OK. But if he's like MOST guys his age, it'll start to get to him and he'll try to overcompensate if he makes a mistake and may start spiraling.

My best guess is they point to chemistry in the locker room mixed with the portal as the leading factor.

I heard a few times how their locker room was a bit of a mess last year. That's no different than a lot of schools. The question boils down to if those attitudes have 'weeded' themselves out of the program. I don't believe you'll find any TX fans who point to Bond as a positive addition.
