šŸ“ āļøClass of 2026 - Alabama Recruiting Updates

when some offensive players had to switch to being a defensive player, suddenly..

What are you talking about? Who are they that switched to being a defensive player?
Interceptions and receiver fumbles in open spaces.. even running backs catching passes (or not)… could be a turnover machine for a little bit, especially early in the season in the toughest games… The way they made it sound the offense, under Grubb, with be much more pass dependent, than we are used too..

Okay, I understand what you're saying now. This is in the past. New team, new season, new players, New coaches, new QB.

Having a bigger and physically stronger receivers is okay, but there is downside to that. I think people don't really understand football scheme like they think they do. CKD's offense is based on creating space at the right time on the field, getting guys open. What we should be saying is that we want wide receivers to be able to create separation when he leave the LOS. We want that, we want speed, we want athletic.

If the goal is to get open, does the size really matter? The only thing is, when it matters the most is in redzone opportunities. The End zone fade route is perfect for those type of guys.

"We need guys that can tackle... Small guys avoid contact ( and run happy qbs).... Are you sure about that? The defense was pretty good.. got better as season went along. I'm not even sure what you're talking about.

No, I didn't miss your point. What you're wanting is a desire, doesn't mean it's a good fit for what Alabama offense is trying to do. Like Terry said, we got few players who's capable of making those catches, but really the offense is more about creating space, and takign shot down the field. The one you want, would be perfect in Nick Saban's offense.
I want an alpha on the field for sure. Julio was an Alpha and so was Devonta Smith. Both different type players physically so I am not being literal in terms of physical. I am talking attitude, productivity, and the credibility they bring. Same on the recruiting trail. Get that alpha that eveyrone wants to come play with.

My gut instinct tells me the sport has moved past those days. Pitino made the comment this past week that he wasn't planning on signing any guys out of high school. He's hitting the portal to fill out the roster for next year. That pretty much eliminates an alpha dog leading a recruiting effort.

LSU looked at Underwood to be that guy. Until ...

I gave it almost 24 hours.

He's been talking about Jaylen Mbakwe the whole time...just didn't want to mention another JM..

LANK to JM.

He is. I'm little surprised. I would think he would probably develop better as OT but TE isn't bad ...
I mentioned the other day when he left USA it was under a medical for a reported heart condition. I wonder if he's shed a lot of weight. Either way, I'd assume he's filling the role of an inline TE.

Highly rated corner commits to Bama...

This is a fine young man who’s also a tremendous athlete. I’ve been fortunate to see him play as he plays for my old high school. And from what I’ve been told, he has had the ā€œitā€ from the first day he stepped on the practice field. I don’t know how to really define the ā€œitā€ but we all know ā€œitā€ when we see it! No puns intended. I so hope he sticks with this commitment as I know UGA, Clemson, Auburn, OSU and a host of others have been giving him the eye. Though I know in the days of NIL anything can change in a moment. Or however long it takes to write a few more zeros! This is a big get for Bama!

I know, it's hard to get excited about a commitment with NIL money on the line.

Don't overlook the impact that Linguist is having on recruiting... Said the day he was hired that Linguist was a huge get for DeBoer... for a few reasons. The guy is an absolute stud as a coach and a recruiter. Players love him, recruits love him, his fellow coaches love him (which may seem odd to say, but most staffs usually have some degree of jealousy and dissention within their ranks). One main reason I don't get too concerned about things on that side of the ball is because I know Mo is over there. That's a comfortable feeling.

We're still a ways away from him committing, but Alabama seems to be in good standing for Anthony Jones. Personally feel good about landing him, but there's still plenty of time left for that to change. Seemingly still a Alabama/Auburn battle, but Oregon could make a serious push at him. The more we get him on campus, the better I feel each time about landing his commitment.

Also, I've seen Auburn recruiting people talk about his recruitment. They're not feeling too good at the moment about landing him, and you can tell they're slowly getting salty about it. So that be a cherry on top of we landed him. Honestly, if we could just land Jones, Crowell, and keep Gibson committed in this class.... Id be fine if that's all we landed in this inState class.
