📝 ⭐️Class of 2026 - Alabama Recruiting Updates

It is still early but have we really gotten any true studs committed so far? One of those true stud names that carries the momentum for the class. A Julio Jones type that the rest of the college football world wants. All I have seen so far is a few 3 star commits. Hope I missed some but If that is the case this Morgan guy needs to step up and earn his pay.
Every year we hear this.... Dude.... simmer down. It's March for goodness sake. Some of the players will move up in the ranking later this summer. Just chill and let it play out. Folks were saying same thing and look where we finished. We don't need Julio Jones type or anyone. We just need the players to fit the program culture and rest will take care of itself. A star will be born out of the program.

Pure gold "We don't need Julio Jones type or anyone".

...the same kid that was told, "we'll win with or without you."

The biggest thing 81 posted that needs to be noted.

It's March 1st. The staff won't know what the roster is going to look like for a few more weeks.

We need BIG, TALL, DURABLE AND PHYSICAL receivers like Julio, Irving, Evans and Megatron..Guys that can fight for the ball and aren’t afraid of contact and serious blocking.. especially if this is going to be a pass happy offense.. I can’t understand why anybody would say otherwise…

The point is that Julio was the biggest recruit for Saban during his tenure. I agree, it's only March 1st and there is no reason to worry at all, but Julio was the single biggest get Saban ever had. To say we don't need a Julio makes no sense at all. Every program needs a Julio. Look no further than what Jeremiah Smith brought to Ohio State. And who did they directly compare him to as a recruit? You got it, Julio That started the domino effect for Saban. The message "we will win with or without you" was more of a psychological statement in my eyes, really hoping to send a message he was not hearing from anywhere else to more challenge him while everyone in oir offices still crossed their fingers that the strategy would work. The rest is history, but everyone needs a Julio Jones.

And CNS would have.... My point was a stud athllete like Julio helps set the tone for the class and gain momentum. To say we do not those to is unrealistic. The other points made about chill etc I was only making an observation. I certainly know it is early and will wait and see just like I did before declaring last years team national champions before they ever played a down. I will say I am not nearly as enamored with "when Courtney stepped of the plane" as many on here are.

Now I'm intrigued to why you said that.

We have that on the roster right now.
Missing my point, we need an Alpha to help get momentum in recruiting. Getting one of those who then turns around and recruits others because they want to play with that dude. Also, there are no Julio Jones level on the roster. Williams is good and is very shifty but Julio? That is rarified air.

Meadows may fit that role: just under six and a half feet and he's said to have the speed. It's reported they expect Hale to get some reps: how many is still a question (injury.) Adams...prolly won't know much until the fall. I've heard Nelson has impressed the staff: another good sized guy (6'4", around 210.)

That's not touching on the other two starters and they'll have a better passer this fall.

Another reason, I think me need much bigger and physically stronger receivers, is they might actually have to play a defensive role… In a pass happy offense, there may actually be more interceptions/turnovers..We need guys that can tackle..Small guys avoid contact ( and run happy qbs)..

Having a bigger and physically stronger receivers is okay, but there is downside to that. I think people don't really understand football scheme like they think they do. CKD's offense is based on creating space at the right time on the field, getting guys open. What we should be saying is that we want wide receivers to be able to create separation when he leave the LOS. We want that, we want speed, we want athletic.

If the goal is to get open, does the size really matter? The only thing is, when it matters the most is in redzone opportunities. The End zone fade route is perfect for those type of guys.

"We need guys that can tackle... Small guys avoid contact ( and run happy qbs).... Are you sure about that? The defense was pretty good.. got better as season went along. I'm not even sure what you're talking about.

No, I didn't miss your point. What you're wanting is a desire, doesn't mean it's a good fit for what Alabama offense is trying to do. Like Terry said, we got few players who's capable of making those catches, but really the offense is more about creating space, and takign shot down the field. The one you want, would be perfect in Nick Saban's offense.

Now, I do understand what you're saying... Check out this:

Look at the top 15 receivers. Some are 6"4. But rest of them.. 6 feet... etc. Now, AJ Brown. That man makes crazy catches. The Fade route.. he's the best at it. That's why I was saying size doesn't matter, as long they can get physical, no matter what size.. They're good.

Well there were some scattered issues last year with “lack of effort” when some offensive players had to switch to being a defensive player, suddenly.. And it seems that the offense will be more gunslinger, with Grubb… So until the offensive gets over the teething issues and timing, the receivers may have to play that way..
