Bama made a bowl game in Arizona , I think it was. We got ripped by Louisville. I remember a Stallings interview after he was retired where he commented about that game. He said something to the extent that they were more concerned with recruiting at the time , and there was really a lack of focus on the game. I kind of get the feeling we are in a simialar situation now. I believe Saban is a true competitor, and wants to win every game, (who wouldn't?) but Rome wasn't built in a day. I can't wait to see where we are three years from now. Anybody else feelling it?

It's funny looking at different perspectives. Surfing around on a USCe forum yesterday I saw them worried about making a bowl. Remember where they were ranked? Heck, they are talking about taking any bowl just to set a school record of 3 bowls in a row.

Anyway, back to the original topic...

About a month, maybe longer, ago I remember an interview with Saban talking about bowl preparation and how he'd changed his approach over the years. Early in his career (MSU) they started prep for their opponent early and it left this team almost flat by the time the game came around. Then, he went back to working on fundamentals and focused on the game very little up until the week before the game. If you recall the UT week, we didn't work on the game plan during our off week and started prep for that game the a few days before game day.

I say all of this because I think he'll work on fundamentals a lot in December. It's not going to be a championship bowl game, or a marque one for that matter, but the practice time is going to be valuable.

I don't compare coaches and performances. It gets you nowhere.

I just want a win today and next week and then talk about bowls.

I knew that...don't know why I typed UT other than I was thinking about the "no orange" during the UT week's preparation as another example of focus.
