For those that missed it... Bama took a 1-0 lead into the 7th and then Bama Softball Things® happened... a (supposedly) botched replay review in terms of the rules that put the leadoff OU hitter on base. 2 batters later... HR to give OU 2-1 lead. Then a fielding issue (no error charged, but still) give OU more life. Eventually, Sooners scored 5 in the inning.
I am completely baffled as to why Murphy pullled Riley and put Briski in. Briski looked good in the 6th, but the gal has struggled to be consistent all year. He did circle all the way back to Riley in the 7th after OU had already started rolling.
It’s sad to sit or stand in the stands and watch how CPM has completely dismantled a once great softball program. The decline has been in the works the past 8-9 years. It started with batting and team was unable to score runs. For years this team was lucky to have a player with an BA 300 or above. However, he had good pitchers like Fouts, Kilfoyl, Cornwell, and others to cover his azz. Murphy is still living on a NC from 13 years ago. These young ladies deserve a lot more than what they’re getting.

That’s on the coach that this team doesn’t have anyone better than Briski and unfortunately she is having a down sophomore season. Like I said in my earlier comment he has had pitchers in the past to cover for his flaws.

They had NiJaree Canady on a "secret" visit last summer (that ended up not being a secret) and thought they had her. Then a Texas Tech booster offered her $1 million bucks to play in Lubbock and that ended that. But they did try to bring in an ace. They also tried Ruby Meylan, but couldn't match what OSU could pay her.
They are pretty competitive in football and basketball. But if you rob from those 2 in order to boost the others, you then lag behind in football which long term would be really, really bad for all of it.

Even making football and basketball a priority I do not see Bama having deep enough pockets. I am sure there are some weatlhy donors that are keeping things afloat but to me is simply a numbers game and I assume we do not have enough of them,

Top 15 with banking on brand name. UT is a top ten team. Ironically, they don't have the brand weight Bama does. Nebraska has a lot of money, no weight any longer. Texas, all the money. But it's like the oil business, always a gamble. (See Bond.)

I'm good with how UA has it structured. Here's the "base," make what you can.
The athletic department was in the red last year...several million. The revenue is there (for the revenue sharing that's about to hit) but the spending...gotta do the later to get the former.

Yeah two ways to increase profit in the real world, increase revenue or cut cost. This is why what I see DOGE trying to do makes sense to me. Cut cost before increasing revenue/taxes. Did not mean to go into politics but at the end of the day it is still about P&L even in college sports. The government just thinks they can keep increasing debt or rasing taxes to compensate for mismanagement. Time to fix that in government and Byrne has his work cut out for him to manage through this in the athletic department..
