Like numerous BAMA supporters, I found myself during Saturday's game contemplating, "the individuals within that Football complex are either charlatans or simply lack an understanding of what major college football ought to resemble." The reality is, when Josh Pate, a person who analyzes this sport and engages with many individuals, is deceived, there is no disgrace in being among those with unrealistic expectations.
Upon CKD's appointment, I was convinced by his impressive track record of victories. During his inaugural press conference, my initial thought was, "he possesses a notably soft demeanor for a coach," yet there are various methods to achieve success; just observe his impressive record! The coaching staff appeared competent enough. Let's afford them an opportunity, as if I had any say in the decision. The media lavished praise upon him, the same media that is now vehemently criticizing him with equal fervor.
Fast forward to the second half of last year's UGA game up to the present. Yes, we won in that UGA game, but no one beyond our fan base should have been celebrating. That coaching staff ought to have been more aggressive with this Team that evening because, although that Team possessed sufficient talent to conceal its flaws, warning signs were evident. The "Standard" began to fade that night. Where Saban would lose his temper when we had a significant lead over the smallest of mistakes, the staff that evening appeared to ease off, and the Team mirrored that approach. There was just enough energy left to conclude that game, but insufficient discipline to overcome Vandy the subsequent week.
CKD and the comparisons to Shula are now rampant across social media. I understand the reasoning. That same bewildered expression, absent for 18 years, has now become a reminder of the mediocrity that plagued this program prior to Saban's arrival. I might even venture to say he somewhat resembles Dakota Dubose, who consistently clapped on the sidelines regardless of the situation. It all begins with coaching, folks. We have witnessed it. Those who have experienced enough should be well aware.
We have previously been reminded of the buyout we provided to this individual when he was brought on board by Greg Byrne and his team; however, I must express my apologies. If one discovers a tumor in a living organism and wishes for that organism to survive, one does not merely wait to see if the situation improves. Instead, one confronts the problem head-on and with determination. Does this program, once the benchmark of college football, not merit efforts for its preservation? While 50+ million is a substantial sum, what will be the additional cost to retain Dakota Dubose?
Now, where the hell do we get the money? Ugh! When does basketball season start?
