| FTBL Saban interview (Tuesday) w/ Tirico and Van Pelt.

It was a good interview.
From listening to it live, Saban was talking about how they just where not ready or looking forward passed Tulane.

My fav comment though was when he said that traveling in the SEC is very hard. And that with ARKY they will have 70k+ people thinking that they can win the game and his staff and his players (about 80 people) will try to prove em wrong.

He has a good head on his shoulders! Smart Smart Coach!

And GREAT INTERVIEW!

He's telling the truth. I'm just as guilty as the next Bama fan for wanting to believe we can play in Atlanta this year! I'm also willing to be patient because I know he will bring the recruits and the level of play will get better. Is it 2010 yet?

I don't think it is wrong to believe that we are capable of playing in Atlanta this year. We are, but at the same time we also are capable of losing four, five or possibly more if the wrong attitude sinks in. More recruits will add much needed depth to this team and make us stronger but again it will always boil down to attitude and work ethic. I hope we get past that or already past that. We will know soon enough.

What is amazing to me was/is how deep seated that "losing attitude" was. Last year and a couple years under Shula are all the proof you need. Losing to LaMonroe after drumming Tennessee and damn near knocking off eventual champion LSU is again, all the proof you need. I don't think some of us, (certainly me) didn't realize how bad the sanctions actually hurt. I just hope Saban commits to at least four full years. After that it should all be icing on the cake. Next year is 10 years since our last conference championship. It's time to right the ship!

That ship is way past a 90 degree turn and soon enough will be at 180

I wonder if it killed van Pelt to say anything nice about Alabama. When I met him he had nothing much to say about Alabama. We had just lost to ULM, so I guess he could have been brutal. The only thing he shared with me was how excited his AU girlfriend was to text him about us losing. He said he actually wonders if she is more anti-Bama than pro-Auburn.

I told him thanks so much for sharing that with me.

I think it's simple this year. NO injuries and a winning attitude and we ARE going to play in Atlanta this year. More importantly than injuries is attitude.
As my brother pointed out to be able to beat Tenn and come as close as we did to knocking off LSU, only to lay down and eat defeat like we did against LAMonroe shows how much power attitude has.
I have said before and I will say it again now, I believe we beat GA this year because we have attitude and talent on our side.
With a little luck (as for injuries go), and there's no stopping this group!!!!!
Nick has got them believing (and rightfully so) that they can beat anybody. :D

Not so fast my friend...
I KNOW...I KNOW. I'm getting ahead of myself, but I have held back and been conservative for too long!!!
I'm like every other fan in that when we open up a game just kicking butt, or have a big lead that I am VERY cautious and almost scared, but no more!!!
I really REALLY believe this team is for real and am ready to start shouting and pumping my chest out to the WORLD, that Alabama is ready to play and play well!! NC? NOT THIS YEAR. SEC title? not this year
10 WIN SEASON AND A BIG BOWL VICTORY? YES, YES, YES!!!! :)

No problem. I just remember people saying we were going to Pasadena after the '05 Florida game, and we all saw how that turned out.

Van Pelt is kind of a tool. Delta, you should have asked him if his girlfriend was the same girl he was desperately leaving a voice message for in this clip:

"I have a very lengthy checklist and any one strike you'd be out..."

What is that? FWIW, he's right about the fact he should be talking to anyone who doesn't have a club foot. Absolutely the only thing going for him is the fact that he works for ESPN. Funny because he appears to have a very healthy opinion of himself.

That = not going to Pasadena.

My friend (who dislikes the guy to an unhealthy extent, who often refers to him as a tool) sent me that. It's pretty...sad...
