šŸˆ Rush Propst returning to Alabama to coach high school football.

Dear Lord! Why would anyone want to hire this buffoon? Is his baggage worth the cost of winning? Well, so many high schools have sold their souls to football, so maybe that doesn't matter to a school like this.

PRATTVILLE — A new prep school coming to Elmore County has grand plans for its football and for its future.

USA Academy — short for Ultimate Student Athlete — will have a football stadium this summer and open a campus and play its first football season this fall, its founder says.

The school is supposed to start enrolling students Friday and will have its first classes Jan. 20 in temporary facilities. It will use online classes with an NCAA-approved academic plan.

ā€œWe're going to spare no expense, whether male or female, to ensure that they have the best resources and the best academics to be successful,ā€ founder Dusty DeVaughn said.

The Eagles introduced their first football coach — the previously successful and controversial Rush Propst — at a news conference Thursday at the Robert Trent Jones Trail’s Capitol Hill.

ā€œWe're building a national brand,ā€ Propst said. "We don't want to be the best private school in just Alabama. I wouldn't have done it for that.

ā€œWe want to play the best schools in the country and give our kids the opportunity to be successful.ā€

I was thinking he was still coaching in Georgia? Didn't he win a High School Champhing last year?

2014 and 2015 they did, but he was in the Championship game like 5 outof thelast six years or something like that.

For everyone else, he's a morally broken asshole, but he is a killer football coach. If not for his personal life decisions, he would be coaching a college team. I don't believe the medicating his players thing.

A note here.

Dusty DeVaughn is the guy credited for founding USA Academy. Dusty is an Auburn guy.

Auburn is looking at USA Academy as a feeder program along the same lines as their softball team used the Birmingham Thunderbolts under Clint Meyers.

You can put Richard Shea and DeVaughn in the same boat.

Take it for what it's worth ...

If he's morally broken in documented areas of his life, why would you think he wouldn't be morally broken in his approach to competing and using players?

If you're financially stable and capable, that doesn't mean you're a moral person emotionally. Usually wealthy people are the most morally corrupt. I know people that you would think were the salt of the Earth in any situation but cheated on their wives. I know people that have always been very pleasing to their family and come across as loving and there for someone, only to find out they would sell their own family out for a dollar. I think Probst is despicable for what he did to his family, but he is still a good coach. His finances are his troubles, but he isn't selling out his players in any way to try and fix that. Men are broken in many ways, but that doesn't mean they are 100% useless in this life.

Over/under three years before this thing becomes a huge bowl of NCAA violations?

And to think, I almost went to work for this asshole when he started at Eufaula. Everything has a way of working itself out and the Lord has a plan for everyone. His plan for me was not to be around this guy. Rush wanted me and the superintendent did as well, but the sticking point was the principal. He didn’t want a coach as his PE teacher. Thank you Lord for allowing me to dodge that bullet.
During his time at Hoover, he would come into the coaches meetings in Montgomery and hold court in the hotel bar like he was some god or something. He rubbed a lot of the old school guys the wrong way. The guy is corrupt as they come and he will have this program in some hot water soon, along with the Barn.

I'm of the opinion @BamaFan334 if you cross the line morally or ethically in one phase, you dont get credit for not doing this in other phases.

By no means I'm I judging, just saying if you do it once...

I've got my own personal lines I won't cross. But if pushed, there is 1-2 that I'll cross in a heartbeat...so maybe I'm no different. (I'm thinking along the lines of protecting my family)

The thing is his lack of morality has certainly seeped into coaching. We're talking about a guy that head butted his own player on live TV, has been accused of pushing pain killers to his players, been accused of having players grades changed and was recruiting players from other schools (even playing ineligible ones). He is as morally bankrupt as any coach that has ever coached IMO.

Nothing different than what happens on college campus' daily. We can all go round and round about it, but the pain killers story was untrue per his own players at Colquitt. Hell, we all have had a teacher change grades and round up, so that can mean a hundred different things. Hey, I'm not saying I'm behind the guy and want him to coach my kids, but he's put more kids into college on free scholarships than any of us combined, and helped give them a chance with his ability to coach, that's all I'm saying. He has definite personal problems, but calling him out on things our own coaches have their hand it doesn't sit well with me. You think every one of our players has made every single grade themselves to stay eligible?
