⚾ 🥎 RIP Bob Horner, he was 68.

Watching the video of him hitting 4 homers against the Expos, he barely lifts his feet when he swings. And the ball just screams into the stands. I've seen a lot of hitters lift their outside leg way up in the air when they take a big swing. But his foot barely comes off the ground, if at all. He had to have some immense power when he swung to be able to do that.

Also...4 homers in 1 game...DAMN!

He and Dale Murphy were fun to watch. Especially when they went back to back,, which they did a lot. Those 80s teams were special, even if they didn't win a lot of hardware. Bruce Benedict, Gene Garber, Jerry Royster, Phil Niekro, Rafael Ramirez. Man those were some good teams.

My daughter was straight A student. She got free tickets to Braves game. Seems like 8-10. Something like that. Lived in Dalonega ga.
Attendance was poor. So could move right down to just above dugout.

Kids got lot of auto graphs. Talk to players. Etc.

Horner. Murph. Benedict. Etc. all games on tv at time too. Was like having a home town team

And my man, Glen Hubbard! Program listed him at 5’9”. He was probably 5’5”.

Ozzie Virgil, Chambliss, Ken Oberkfell, Albert Hall, Bruce Sutter, Gene Garber, Zane Smith, Rick Mahler, Paul Assenmacher. Those were the days!

Man.....you guys are taking me back. Have not seen Steve Bedrosian (Bedrock) and of course the goofy SOB Pascual Perez. That fight between the Padres and the Braves that year was legend. I think 3 fights in one game.
One of my few ‘claim to fame’ moments. I was there, maybe 15-20 rows up from Braves dugout. Me and some friends from HS had planned the trip months in advance. Our original seats were right field nose bleeds but there was a long rain delay and a lot of people went home. We bought great seats from a scalper for next to nothing. Unforgettable day.

That game was crazy. Horner was not even dressed out because of his wrist. He went and put his uniform on after the first scuffle and got there in time to protect Pascual. Seems like they arrested a bunch of fans on the field, people jumped on the surface and started going after Padres. Never seen anything like it. The Pacers fight against the Pistons players is a distant 2nd, mainly because I don’t remember that one having fans arrested during play and walked across the playing surface.
