šŸˆ Records compared: CNS and CPB through the first 309 games of their coaching career.

It is really not a completely fair comparison to compare coaches or athletes from different eras of football.
Perhaps a better comparison would be to compare each to their contemporaries and then look at how they line up in that way.
But one era versus a completely different era (with different rules and styles) doesn't really carry much weight (with me anyway.)
Example: Comparing Bama QBs: Tua's passing yards versus Pat Trammell (sp?) passing yards wouldn't give a true picture of the value of Pat to the team in his day.
The bottom line is that Alabama has been super blessed to have had great coaches in our history.

Just saying....

I don't think it's an unfair comparison, as it is comparing how each coach does against the competition of their era. If we were comparing recruiting, points per game, yards passing per game, yeah, that's unfair. But this shows that against the same era competition, that they're both pretty similar, with Nick coming out slightly ahead. They aren't saying how well would Nick have done against Bear's competition, or vice versa.

In reality we have had the two best coaches to coach the college game at bama. Why do we have to say which was better. Do not care they are both part of the greatness of the Crimson Tide. Roll Tide!!!!

This is like statistics.....you can always leave out or add something to make them be whatever you want.

There is and will always be the argument of who is better. Personally I think Saban is the better of the two. The majority of Bear's wins were with out the limitation of scholarships. Saban has done it in an era where parity is the most prevalent that we have probably ever seen.

There's an addition I've always had a problem with accepting at face value.

Yes, Saban is coaching under the 85/25 rules. And yes, Bryant spent part of his time on the sidelines where there were no scholarship limitations.

Yet, in both cases, so was every other team in college football.

I don't get how others can try to disqualify what CPB did under the guise of "he had unlimited scholarships" when they did as well and yet they were beaten, consistently, under the same rules.

Only 11 players can be on the field at one time. This hasn't changed during CPB or CNS tenures. It doesn't matter if you have 74 guys on the sideline or 174.
