šŸˆ Raise your hand if you became a Bama after 2007. It's okay to admit it because I know damn well (more)

Around July 10th 1963.
The day of my birth!
True story. I was paid.

Mr. Parks, older guy who attended the same church, used to give me a quarter to say Roll Tide after church on Sunday mornings. I was ... four, maybe, when it started. The point being is I started paying attention to the scores that early on just to know what to say to him that morning. You've got me by four years (almost to the date) so you'd remember the era better than I do. 1970, '71...somewhere around then it when it started.

Wellllll..dad bought me a ticket and dropped me off at legion field in 55-56 ga tech-bama game...( now he would be arrested fr child neglect I suspect)...
So, was fan starting in mid 50s......
Games were on radio..fondess memories of sitting with my dad listening to bama football on the radio.... and other games on "pick of dixie" ......

Holy shit you people are old.

I was born in 1994, but they've always been a part of my life. To me people like Bear Bryant and Gene Stallings were like mythical legends that existed in folk lore. I was relegated to watching Bama during the not so good days in the 2000s.

Who could forget such classical moments like the defense shitting the bed on 4th and 18 against UT in 2003 or having LSU rip your heart out in OT in 2005?

I'm younger than some here. Dec 1986, whole family is Alabama Alumni and boosters. I grew up with Alabama Football and I will stay with them even after we inevitably slow down again. My first real memory of keeping up with the scores and players was 1992, my Dad and I watched the Championship Game together which he loved, he's also a huge Bama fan. I was so excited, having just turned 6 years old, he wanted to get me the game to watch it so he had some of his Fraternity brothers still on campus send him a copy of the 92 championship game on VHS for me to watch. I must've watched that thing 100 times..literally cover had to be replaced I would take it out and watch it so often. That was my first real fun time watching Bama football.

Born in 63'and raised in Gadsden, AL... My first memories of having to choose an allegiance to Bama was in my family. My mom loved Auburn and dad was all Bama and Bear. I think I made my decision when my mom jumped up during the 72' Auburn/Bama and gave my dad the most over the top in yo' face bragging when Auburn won. I knew I loved my mom but didn't like her as an Auburn fan...Haha

I sat through a lot of great victories and some loathsome Alabama teams in the 80's and 90's but stuck with them. With that being stated, I've almost come to not like most Bama fans now because of their unrealistic expectations and braggadocios attitudes because I do vividly remember experiencing our less than mediocre teams. I savor the close victories and dread the humbling days that will come... hopefully many many years from now.

I became a fan in exactly 2007... My best friend ended up in Tuscaloosa, enrolled at UA. He got way drunk Thursday night and told me he bought a flight for me to to leave Friday for the LSU vs Bama game. I had no idea what I was in for. To this day one of the best weekends of my life! LSU fans had a hate for Saban like no other... Great game too, unfortunately Dorsey was living in the backfield and from what I remember JPW got sacked and the ball caromed backwards for an easy go ahead LSU TD. I think Hall or Javy took a punt back to the house... BDS was rocking! RTR

I have been a fan since the early 70s as a young child. Interesting story... I was born in upstate New York and grew up mostly in the NYC suburbs. Joe Namath at the time was a MAJOR football hero where I grew up. In addition, my brothers and I were huge Raiders fans and Kenny was our favorite player in the whole league. As such, we were also hooked on Alabama football and fortunately at that time, Bama was on TV a good bit so we could watch. Bear and the Tide were rolling throughout most of the 70s - it was a good time to be a Bama fan.

Then, I moved to Birmingham in 1992 for a girl and a job - I was in my mid 20s. That girl and that job have since been replaced :)) but I have stayed ever since (in fact, I lived in Tuscaloosa for 10 years as well). I was so lucky that Jay Barker and Company crushed Miami for the Natty my first season here. Little did I know the drought that would follow... DuBose, Franchione, Price (who didn't coach a single game), Shula, and even Kines for one game. But now we have the Saban era and it's been amazing.

Born November of 1970. My dad had 5 older brothers and the oldest had been offered a basketball scholarship to BAMA back in the 50's. Our entire crew was BAMA fans!! I can recall The Coach Bryant Show at the age of 4-5 years old after church each Sunday and dreamed of playing for him. I walked on in '89 and have been a season ticket holder since the day I graduated in December of '93!!

The majority of us that have been posting on here long term definitely pre-date 2007, buddy. I've been an Alabama fan since I was old enough to sit up and watch Alabama games. I believe I started posting on here 2004 or 2005 when I was in high school. Even got banned one time because of how much I crapped on Marquis Johnson (I think that's who it was) in 2006.

I know right? I was shocked to learn how many of these old farts knew how to use a computer/smart phone, let alone post on an internet forum. 90s babies have no opinions, though. Just pointing that out. ;)
