| FTBL Quick update on likely red-shirts for the '08 class...

...and this is barring any season-ending injuries and any subsequent appeals the staff would file to regain a year of eligibility.

By my count, these are the players how haven't played so far and would be in line for a red-shirt if the season ended today.

IF you are doing the math, you'll see that half of the freshman class has played this year.

So there is a couple of guys who might redshirt who is not on that list? Depending on how much they've played and if they will after the 3rd game?

Looking at those names I find some I thought I might see on the field this year, Lawrence especially. It's exciting to know that, unless they have to play this season, that these guys will be redshirt freshmen next year. The future is very bright my friends.

Playing after/before the 3rd game isn't a rule in effect anymore. If they take a snap, their eligibility for a redshirt year is gone.

That said, if they are injured and can't play anymore that year the staff has the right to petition the NCAA for that 'shirt year.

I don't know of anyone not on this list that may qualify for a 'shirt. If that were the case, they would be in the soph-senior classes and haven't taken a 'shirt year as of yet.

We still may see some action out of Love...Saban has said they want to play some of the young OL guys...in this case, that would apply to some that have already seen some action (Motley, McCullough, Ross and Cardwell) but could also include some of the other guys (Vlachos, Boswell, Pharr, Love and Jones) just for the experience.
