FWIW...

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- University of Florida football coach Urban Meyer said today that star wide receiver/running back Percy Harvin had a good check up with team trainers in the locker room today, raising hopes that the standout will be back for Saturday's SEC Championship Game against Alabama.

"The news from the training room was very positive," Meyer said. "I got a lot of thumbs up, including from the player. He had a big smile on his face."

Harvin leads Florida in receiving, ranks second in rushing and has scored 16 touchdowns as the team's No. 1 gamebreaker. He sprained his ankle in a 45-14 lvictory at Florida State over the weekend, leaving the field in crutches.

Meyer said the plan is to put Harvin in a protective boot for a couple of days and see how he responds before making a decision on his playing status. Today's news was perceived as encouraging. Sunday, Meyer said Harvin's status was questionable.
