While we're only a little over halfway through the season, I saw this award semifinalists announcement news and figured a thread was apropos since we'll start seeing other semifinalist announcements in the short coming days and weeks.

Xavier Mckinney is named Thorpe Award semifinalist.

Key injury losses, AND playing behind a quick-strike offense that puts them right back onto the field with suboptimal rest. Kinda the double-edged sword of a really potent offense.

If Alabama players had any chance to win awards, it would probably be Tua or Jeudy. Don't see anyone on Defense winning anything unless lewis/Digg lights it up in next few weeks.

I was actually looking at Smith's statistics compared to the rest in the country and I think only Ja'Marr Chase has a chance to beat him. It will be one of those two guys when you look at receptions, yardage, touchdowns, and yards per reception. Probably Chase since he has three games left, is playing at an extremely high level, and an SEC Championship, but what Smith has done is still pretty awesome considering no one put him in the group with Jeudy and Rugs III after last season.

We hear a lot about how elite our receivers are, obviously, but we don’t hear as much about LSU’s in the same level. Maybe because we are Bama folks. But their trio has put up better numbers than our trio this year but they aren’t as known. They have 4 more catches, 20+ more yards, and 6 more TD’s. Not bad at all. And Marshall and Chase are Sophomores. They have a stable of studs but not quite as well known.
