South Carolina will be without longtime starting quarterback Jake Bentley for at least the next six weeks. Various reports indicate that the senior has suffered a broken foot following the Gamecocks' season-opening loss to North Carolina.

Seems like he was Tebow's backup at UF before he transfered to the cocks
Florida?

He's a South Carolina kid. He did live in Opelika for a bit when his dad (also high school coach of Jake's) got a job there (in effort to sign Jake, I'm sure.) UofSC hired his dad and his commitment to the 'cocks followed thereafter.

I'm thinking he's the highest ranked QB ever signed by UofSC.

He also graduated a year early and started at South Carolina at 17 years old.

OKAY!! Who will be the QB now?
Ryan Hilinski.

A bit of "it's a small world" story here. If we go back a year or so we were talking about Garner Mischew and his transfer (at that time to Bama.) As you recall, he ended up going to Washington State and playing for Mike Leach. The QB position at Washington State had been in the news quite a bit.

If you recall his brother Tyler had been the quarterback at WSU and in January of last season was found dead in his apartment (suicide.)

Ohhhh I thought he was a UF transfer. Wasn't there a Bentley kid at UF?

Probably.

I tend to not keep up that much with anything/one outside of Bama. Lol.
His story would include Bama in sense considering he dad was hired at Auburn, Auburn was heavily recruiting him, and then Spurrier showed up and the story was written.

I'd image you've come across his name in past recruiting stories dealing with hiring of a coach to get a kid; this time a parent as well.
