While my father-in-law, now deceased, was in the hospital / nursing home, chipmunks or mice chewed the wiring harness into pieces and we had to get it replaced. I asked the mechanic how to keep them off the engine and he said mothballs would keep them away. he suggested I put them in a ziplock bag with holes and tie them under the hood and along the wiring harness. I did and the chewing little bastards never came back.
Now, we are getting ready to sell the car and need to get rid of the mothball smell. I have cleaned the car and made sure all the mothballs are gone but the scent still lingers. I'm leaving the windows down and letting it air out as much as possible but after 3 weeks the scent is still very noticeable although better.
Any ideas?
