Modified Polio virus helping killing brain tumors

Immunotherapy is using the bodies own immune system to help fight cancer.

That being said, some interesting results from Duke using the Polio Virus to help fight cancer. They modified the polio virus to prevent it from reproducing in good cells but reproduces in tumor cells. The immune system can then fight the tumor due to the polio virus.

They are also testing this against other cancers.

What awesome research. A disease which once killed or crippled many may hopefully become a tool to combat another dreaded disiease.

Dr. Matthias Gromeier (molecular biologist) has been working on this for 20+ years. Definitely out of the box thinking, I'd love to know more about how he discovered this, they briefly touch on it in the video.
