Mississippi State Pre-Game Preview
November 12, 2008
By Keith Connell (porkchop)
After three consecutive losing seasons, Coach Sylvester Croom was finally able to turn around the Mississippi State program in 2007 by finishing 7-5. Or, at least, that was what the State faithful thought. It now appears that the Bulldogs have reverted back to their old ways as the team is currently sitting at 3-6 on the season, and by the way, visits # 1-ranked Alabama this weekend.
It wouldn’t be a stretch to say that State’s season rides on the outcome of this game. Winning this game potentially could inspire the team to a late season run. After BAMA, the Bulldogs have a down Arkansas team, and their arch-rival Ole Miss. Stealing a win in Tuscaloosa could very well save the season and make the Bulldogs bowl eligible for the second straight year.
A loss?
That wouldn’t change much. After all, that’s pretty much how the season has gone anyway.
Records and rankings aside, one thing that you can count on is that Sly Croom means to do everything within his power to steal one in Tuscaloosa this Saturday, and it goes way beyond bowl eligibility or just wins and losses. It’s a lot deeper than that. Croom knows it. Saban knows it.
