25 Years Ago • Shelton State Community College President Tom Umphrey was in New York City, hoping to borrow $30 million for building a new campus south of Tuscaloosa.
Victor Poole from Moundville had been a long-time figure in state politics, particularly the state school board. He was also intent, always, to do anything he could to help the fortunes of Moundville.
