Ok Alabama is 4-1 and tied for the lead in the west along with LSU. If we beat LSU we win the west provided we beat Miss St. No matter what the outcome of the Alabama -barn game is right? If we lose to LSU then LSU goes to SECCG am i right? Somebody set me straight.

I'm not even sure at this point. I thought head-to-head was the first decider in the tie-breaker. I've seen someone post today that division record is first in tie-breaker.

We beat LSU and MSU and get beat by Auburn, it's a three way tie, given that Auburn beats the rest of their SEC teams (They have Ole Miss next week and then Georgia Nov. 10 BTW) as well as LSU (Ole Miss and Arkansas).

Then, the tie-breakers are as follows, per secsports.com.

A. TWO-TEAM TIE

1. Head-to-head competition between the two tied teams.
2. Records of the tied teams within the division.
3. Head-to-head competition vs. the team within the division with the best overall record (divisional and non-divisional) Conference record and proceeding through the division. Multiple ties within the division will be broken from first to last.
4. Overall record vs. all common non-divisional opponents.
5. Combined record vs. all common non-divisional teams.
6. Record vs. common non-divisional team with the best overall Conference (divisional and non-divisional) record and proceeding through other common non-divisional teams based on their order of finish within their division.
7. The tied team with the highest ranking in the Bowl Championship Series Standings following the last weekend of regular-season games shall be the divisional representative in the SEC Championship Game.


B. THREE (OR MORE) TEAM TIE

1. (Once the tie has been reduced to two teams, go to the two-team tie-breaker format.)
2. Combined head-to-head record among the tied teams.
3. Record of the tied teams within the division.
4. Head-to-head competition vs. the team within the division with the best overall (divisional and non-divisional) Conference record and proceeding through the division. Multiple ties within the division will be broken from first to last.
5. Overall record vs. non-division teams.
6. Combined record vs. all common non-divisional teams.
7. Record vs. common non-divisional team with the best overall Conference (divisional and non-divisional) record and proceeding through other common non-divisional teams based on their order of finish within their division.
8. The tied team with the highest ranking in the Bowl Championship Series Standings following the last weekend of regular-season games shall be the divisional representative in the SEC Championship Game, unless the second of the tied teams is ranked within five-or-fewer places of the highest ranked tied team. In this case, the head-to-head results of the top two ranked tied teams shall determine the representative in the SEC Championship Game.

I just hope we beat MSU, La Monroe, and just one of the Tigers. I don't care if we win the west this season, but it sure would be nice.

I agree... While I would love to win the west, I personally feel we are a year out. On another thread I spoke of how much this season has looked so much like fRans first year here. It took most of the season to get the losing mentality out of the players head and getting them to play as a team of winners. While CNS is not having to get the losing mentality gone it is the playing not to lose mentality he has been dealing with. Remember had we not been on probation we would have played UGA in 2002 for the SEC. Although there has been a lot of craw-fishing on the talent that CMS recruited this past year, I still say we have the talent to compete for the SEC next year. While CNS is making the transition I think yesterdays game was what we can begin to expect with the team playing consistently for 60 minutes. They appear to be "buying" into the system and believing in the coaches and most importantly in themselves. I think next year that we may not be picked to win the west, but I bet we do.

Oh yeah, we definitely need to just take it one game at a time. I learned that in 2005. I was just answering the question posed.

Can we beat the rest of the teams on our schedule? Yes.

Will we? Time will tell.
