šŸˆ Lawmaker proposing bill to end BCS system

I cant seem to find anywhere in the Constitution where the federal government has the power to determine who plays in a football game.

Right now, some like the current system, some hate it. But rest assured that whatever the government comes up with, EVERYONE will hate it.

I don't have the time, or desire, to read that article...but I'm going to make a guess.

The lawmaker is from Texas. If not, California...but my gut says it's Texas.

Well, there are all manner of lesser imps and demons, Pete, but the great Satan hisself is red and scaly with a bifurcated tail, and he carries a hay fork.

Actually, Congress does have the power to regulate interstate commerce and I wouldn't be surprised if that's the angle they take on this.

Thats not what the interstate commerce clause was intended for. True they torture the text of it to stick their dirty noses in all sorts of places it doesnt belong. But yes, that is the angle they are taking.

I dont see this getting much traction though, this guy is a Texas homer and no one else cares enough to look like they are wasting time on college football while there are more important things going on. He should be mad at the Big12's stupid tie breaker instead of the BCS. It wasnt the BCS that screwed Texas....

Oh, no. No, sir. He's white, as white as you folks, with empty eyes and a big hollow voice. He likes to travel around with a mean old hound. That's right.

Every time I see an article about some politician wanting to create a D-1 playoff, I think about the old line "an elephant is a mouse designed by a government committee". The last thing we need is for politicians to legislate this.

I remember years back being involved with a kids basketball tournament. 8 teams invited, of varying quality. One of the organizers wanted to put all the good teams in one half of the bracket and all the bad teams in the other half so some of them could win some games. Fortunately he was outvoted.

I have a sick feeling that a politicain designed playoff system would be set up like that.

Do you think the lawmaker would have been this interested if Texas was in the BCS title game?

Oh I agree with you about intentions vs. actuality. I also agree that I'd be surprised if the bill goes anywhere.
