The once-annual visit from Lane Kiffin to the media room has arrived. Coordinators meet with the press on media day only, so this is the opportunity to hear from Alabama's offensive coordinator.

-- In Year 2, he said he appreciates more how the process works under Saban from recruiting to spring and into another season.
-- Keeping the offensive coaching staff in tact was huge.
-- They will build the offense around the players, not the other way around.
-- It was Saban's idea to up the tempo last year.
-- Losing nine starters will make it difficult.
-- QB is "wide open competition" and there is no time table.
-- Kiffin said his brother, an Ole Miss assistant, gave him the business this summer about the Rebels' win over the Tide last year.
-- They're doing a bunch of things to work with different QBs. Hard to focus much on one since nobody's won the job.
-- Kiffin said he had fun watching the story unfold with Blake Sims and Amari Cooper.
-- Daylon Charlot has impressed early. And on Calvin Ridley, he said he has a chance to be elite.
-- ArDarius Stewart is "as talented" as anyone they have on the roster. Robert Foster has flashed those skills too.
-- There was "too much" on Jake Coker last fall. He handled it well, though.
-- They don't want to eliminate any of the five QBs yet because you don't want to ax the wrong guy too early.
-- They are still working on the identity but they want to be physical and run the ball. Who does it remains the question.
