Alabama
- Get ahead early - Try to take the crowd out of it by making LSU play from behind. This will force Jarrett Lee to pass more.
- Stack the line - Pretty obvious one here. Stack the box and try make Lee beat you.
- Disguise the blitzes and blitz often - Saban hasn't blitzed as much this year as he normally does. He needs to blitz early and often to disrupt LSU's passing game.
- Open up the playbook on offense - LSU can stop the run. In order to beat them, you have to pass to set up the run. If JPW starts throwing it around, it will force the defense to play the pass first.
- Stay level headed - Don't let the #1 ranking get to your head. We saw a bunch of #1 teams lose last year this year. Is Bama next?
LSU
- Use Herman Johnson to help on Cody on run plays - Helms is too small to handle him 1 on 1. Johnson is 6'8" 370 something pounds. He needs to seal Cody on running plays to the left side.
- Use a mixture of Chad Jones and Patrick Peterson on Julio Jones - Curtis Taylor is hurt, so Mccray our typical nickelback is going to play FS. Jones and Peterson should be the only 2 guarding Julio. Jai Eugene is too small and Chris Hawkins isnt good in 1 on 1 coverage.
- Pressure John Parker Wilson - Alem is our best pass rusher. He needs to have a huge game blitzing Wilson in order for LSU to win. He leads the SEC in sacks.
- Conservative offense - Run, run, and more run. Pound Charles Scott. If they stack the box bring in Holliday, Murphy or Williams and run some to the outside. We can't rely on Jarrett Lee to win this game by himself.
- Rugby punts to Arenas - Last year we underkicked our coverage and he returned one for a TD. In some games we use the rugby punt where it rolls and put in Holliday on punt coverage. It has been great for field position.
- Attack Saban's defensive weaknesses - When Saban was here, his defensives had 2 major weaknesses. One is the back sneaking out the backfield. Oklahoma and other teams exposed this when we played them. The other is fade routes. Saban doesn't always give safety help near the sideline. I expect Lee to take a couple shots to Demetrius Byrd.[/u]
