Kadyn Proctor Says Alabama Offensive Line Has to Find 'Right Five' Up Front

The Crimson Tide's seen heavy rotation along the offensive line through the season's first three games.

Alabama's used a trio of offensive guards in Kam Dewberry, Geno VanDeMark and Jaeden Roberts, and used both Wilkin Formby and true freshman Michael Carroll at right tackle. Proctor at left tackle and center Parker Brailsford have been the only constants through three games.

"I don't think it's good to have rotation throughout the whole season because you have to have that camaraderie between all five for them to be at one, but earlier in the season, I guess it's ok to have that rotation, and we've shown to win with those rotations going on," Proctor said. "I feel like it's not bad right now, but once we get into the tougher teams, we need those five and we need to stick with them."

So the LG, RG and RT up for grabs.

Im guessing dewberry or VanDeMark for LG. I get why we're doing it, but I still don't like that we're still trying to figure out our starting 5 for the O-line. I hope I'm wrong regarding my worries, and hopefully it'll work out in the end.

Dewberry is okay but vandemark get pushed around easily.

In this case, it’s a “good” problem. They’ve got 7 or 8 guys that can play starter level football. Just need to find the right combination to get the best unit. Which isn’t easy.

He's not lying though. The staff had been shuffling on OL the last three games. I rather them do this now than later in the season. The run game isn't there partly for couple reasons. OL, Miller is out, playcalling etc.

I have no problem with moving players in and out at the beginning of the year and I also agree that it is time to settle on 5 core guys on the OL.

Game time decision. CKD hinted at that yesterday and he won't confirm or deny. I think everyone is game time decision

I haven’t really seen an real effort to run the ball. It has seems to me that they have been working on the passing game almost exclusively. Even to the point that they are running play action when the 5 previous plays were passes.

It just sounds like to me he's uncertain if the right combination is out there or not... not a good thing to say when you're about to go into playing UGA...

We do need to pump the brakes a bit to be honest. We do have to take some things in to consideration along with Proctor’s comments. Roberts was a starter last year at RG and then was out week 1 due to concussion protocol. Week 2 and 3, I believe, he has been on a “pitch count” working him back to full speed. Van Der Mark was filling in for him and then Formby and Carroll have platooned at RT. I see it as an attempt to build depth with “live fire” reps and get tape on these guys and decide from there. I believe Dewberry has been more than capable at LG. Next week should give a better indication as far as who our Top 5 are.

Fellas. . . . . The Hulk just got cleared to play in the FSU game but he did NOT play. He's played a lot more in the last 2 games, getting his feet underneath him. There is nothing wrong getting the other guys more practice & playing reps IF his head gets rung again. BTW, I can't image how bad his head takes a beating. But Something tells me J Roberts will ready to go at Right Guard for Jawja. The question is RT. I think it's Fromby's to lose at this point. He just needs to get the yips out of him with the false starts, which he seems to have improved.

Just FYI, I got me a Roberts #77 jersey for the Jawja game. I'll be on the 'Bama side, at 50 yard line, row 2 cheering on the good guys. I wonder if he'll see it.
