In my opinion for the first few years of watching football live, just watch it and enjoy it. The more exposure you get to it the more you will learn. Another good tip would be to watch the Sunday morning NFL shows that break down the plays. They do it in slow motion and with drawings on the screen. That will teach VOLUMES about how plays are broken down.After you are more comfortable with things, I would shift to watching the O-line and D-line each time. The game begins and ends with line play. Watching the lines is sort of like being a catcher in baseball. From that vantage you are able to see whether or not the play develops and WHY it does or does not.
