on a STUPID holding call!!! I didn't see a hold!!!

I did. Andre Smith held the LSU guy. But it really wasn't necessary to let Wilson score, IMO.

I saw it too. It wasn't flagrant, but it was a hold.

Away from the ball, too, although Andre didn't know it at the time.

Well its a few ways to look at it............I'll just say he was protecting his QB's backside

There's the key.

I've heard Penn Wagers say if a block like that doesn't have a direct bearing on the play he and his crew won't call it holding. When I say "I've heard" it is as in I was sitting right beside him when he said it...

Exactly. JP made the right call to tuck it and run, but Andre knew a pass play was called. If JP had stayed in the pocket, it wouldn't have been a hold. Andre didn't get beat on the play, JP scrambling put him out of position.

FWIW, it was a hold even though it really, really sucked.

There were a lot more holds that were 10 times more obvious that did affect the outcome by both teams. I'm with Sandra on this CALL IT BOTH WAYS!!! RTR

My only comment on this is "call it both ways". :x

That is all.

I agree. Holding? Yes....technically. But, I saw much worse that wasn't called. This "technicality" didn't affect the play and could have cost a team a shot at the national championship. But, I'm suuuuuure glad it didn't!!!

I'm so glad crappy referees didn't kill this game for us like they have a few times in the past few years

I agree. Earlier in the first half, I was seeing LSU do the same thing as what Andre got called on, but they tended to keep their hands within the width of their bodies.

Told my wife, I didn't mind it if the officials were gonna be lax with the holding calls as long as they were consistent with their judgment and gave the other team the same leeway. With the exception of the call on Andre, they pretty much like the men in the trenches spar.
