This isnāt an assassination attempt, plain and simple. Shooting at the White House I get, but a floor away and shot within feet of the security checkpoint? Yeah that isnāt an attempt.
Read the words. He attempted to assassinate the President. He was armed, broke through a security barrier with the intent to shoot the President and others. He doesn't have to get off a shot. He doesn't have to wound the President. It was an attempted assassination.
He wasn't shot, he was tackled at the top of the stairs leading to the ballroom.
In your mind, what is an assassination attempt? Do you have to get a shot off?
Do you believe the manifesto credited to him is contrived?

I think being within distance of the person is a start. Yes he was in the same building, but my god he wasnāt even close to the President.

So he just ran through security towards where the President was with multiple weapons for the fun of it? It was an attempt. Security stopped him so he didn't get far.
As a former LEO, wouldn't those "writings" you don't care for go directly to motive? I see three things here which are enough to get you convicted in just about every court that exists:
Motive: The manifesto.
Means: Guns, knives, etc.
Opportunity: Yeah, this one isn't too difficult to grasp.
It makes no sense to me how you can say "it wasn't an assisination attempt" when he's clearly stated his intentions in the writings you don't care about.
I somewhat understand "no shot fired at the President or his staff" so "no assisination attempt" was committed. The intent, which I suspect will result in us seeing "conspiracy to commit murder," is something one can't deny. After all, he's admitted such.

A maverick PUMP shotgun.. high recoil..8 or 9 rounds.. pumping is slow going up against as many as 14 officers with automatics..A 38 super 1911.. 9 to 10 rounds per mag.. great gun and caliber but spotty reliability in anything other than 45 ACP..The guy apparently wanted to be a martyr for his cause..

Is this right or wrong, I don't know. I heard that the SS knew of the attempt through the pipeline and informed Trump. Only a very few knew what was happening. VP didn't know nor did Melania. Vance was rushed out Melania I think crawled under the table before being rushed out. She was very scared.
Trump wanted to see how his SS security team would react, who would do their job and who would not. TRUST is a big issue when it comes to protection of the president. As stated by others, the assassin never got close enough to harm Trump, but the INTENT was there.

Another Internet conspiracy theory. SS would know about any threat before the President. There's no way DT sat down and said "let's see how this plays out." There are teams that individually watch over the President and first lady. They had to first get them out of any line of fire (under the table) before moving them away from the threat (which way is the threat coming from?).

That was planned by the bad guys, that ran through the SS. By the Grace of God, he was only nicked. Still, some of those same SS agents
are still on the team that is supposed to protect him.
It is said in some circles that the President and his closet allies know the deep state's playbook through military intelligence.
Can or will anything protect him from assassination? I don't know, but hope so.
The Melania team made faster decisions than the DT team.
I don't know what you mean that the bad guys ran through the SS. The agent in charge in PA was a DEI assignment. She failed on many counts.

It is my belief that the woman in charge of the SS then, or other higher ups, allowed the attempt on Trump's life. The shooter was pointed out to law enforcement by citizens attending the rally, many minutes before shots were fired. Law enforcement knew well before Trump took the podium that the person who turned out to be the shooter was already there carrying a range finder. A cop or agent also climbed the ladder to reach top of the building only to be scared back down by the shooter. A SS sniper? positioned on the roof of another building had the shooter in his sights, but did nothing until the shooter shot his wad. That is really unexplainable in my book.
When an assassin is in the area of The President, he is the most important person in the world and Should be protected at ALL cost, above and beyond ANYONE else. UNLESS it was known and he he was guaranteed 100% by his personal protection, other than the SS, to be safe.
President Trump is brash and puts himself out there, probably too much. But he has a very small circle of friends he trust with his life.
