...and I thought it was just a small matter until I read this:

No charges have been filed by the prosecution yet...but this doesn't look good. This isn't his first drug related arrest since he's been at Mizzou.

Damn. And he was arrested for marijuana possession a year ago. Official statement by police to come Monday.

Seems odd though. How do you get arrested for "suspicion" of distribution, delivery, manufacture, or production of a controlled substance?

The SEC haters are already out in full swing .. "Welcome to the SEC" .. "He'll be starting on day 1" .. "Just another sweep under the rug situation" .. :lance:

If I remember correctly from what a buddy who is a cop told me, that is used when someone is caught with an amount over what is considered personal consumption but under full blown trafficking and also was not caught actually selling it. Kind of a middle ground charge saying you had more than we think you should have for your own use but not enough to say you were for sure selling it and we also did not see you selling it but are pretty sure you would have done so.

Words like "suspicion" and "alleged" are used because all are innocent until proven guilty.

Depends on the state. I'm no scholar of criminal law, but 95% of most drug laws are black and white. The amount is either "personal use" or "trafficking weight". Nothing between. Like with alcohol, you are either under the legal limit, or over. No middle ground.

That may definitely be true here. Looks like he was actually charged with a violation of 195-211 of Missouri law. That is up to 5 grams of pot for Class C or any other drug for class B. Not sure from the screen capture which it was though.

Hypothetical:

A guy is caught with seven grams but the seven grams are divided up in seven different packages. That would fall under distribution or delivery of....would it not?

Again, depending on the state. In Alabama, trafficking is a catch all.

1) Any person who knowingly sells, manufactures, delivers, or brings into this state,

That's how the trafficking law starts.

Sorry but this thread reminds me of.....
