Here's where you inject ... on the grill with a whole chickin' ... in my opinion.

Freshwater or salt, size and variety? You skin or filet?
Fresh. Out of Lake Moultrie. It's about a 40 minute drive.

I throw back anything less than 14 or so...these were in the 20 range. I don't do lbs. Skinned, then into fillets.

Alpo sprayed with WD-40. Yielded enough to stock the freezer. I didn't believe it when I heard it...but you trust the old fucks on a jon boat.

were they channel, blue? I'd filet those too, don't skin first anymore though just filet. I like 12 to 14 inch channel cats the best, whole fryers. The bigger ones I prefer yellow cats if I can get them.

Sprayed the bait with WD-40?

Yes to all.

Run a search on Lake Marion and Lake Moultrie, SC. You'll get the picture. If I left right now I"d be in the water in less than an hour.

As to the WD...one of those things a guy told me one day when I was fishing in the reservoir. It works. I don't know why, or how. He said, "chunks of the 'meat' out of Alpo and spray it."

@Krimson I laugh every time I see the signs that tell you about the limit. It's "if' if's 3', you can only catch one."

I''ve/we've lost some BIG catfish on those two bodies.

Never would've figured alpo "meat" would've stayed on a hook.

Always nice to be able to catch a good mess of catfish. Growing up we'd put at least a couple hundred pounds a year in the freezer, usually from a combination of trotlines and jugs. I'd say over 50% of our meat came from the woods or the river, most of the rest we raised.
