Re: IF the AP poll doesn't mean anything, why does ESPN usewait, i thought the AP poll is factored into the BCS ranking formula. no?not sure if this addresses your question, but i think one reason media uses two college football polls is to attract a wider audience. networks can increase their viewership by using a more favorable ranking for their matchups when differences exit between the polls. then you have the BCS poll that emerges later in the year that offer another set of rankings that can be used to hype up a game and bolster its relevance.then again, the lingering of the AP poll might also be for tradition's sake.
