He's 58 and has eleven years in the Senate. He could stay right there and serve SC for another good bit. That being said, he's better qualified than Trump to serve in any national office.
Ironic you bring him up. I thought about him following Haley's speed after the last primary.
If you recall his campaign he spoke of how he grew up and what he was able to accomplish. Race was a factor and he spoke of how he was able to overcome those obstacles: that was his message for America.
Contrast that with the "I was picked on every day." "I was bullied." "I was called brown." The message wasn't the same. It wasn't "look at what I was able to accomplish" but rather stoke racial division as a motivating factor for votes.
