It certainly could happen for two teas from the same conference to play each other in the NC, Michigan almost had it this year...but it's less likely to happen in a conference that has a Conference Championship game, like the SEC...and, I'm with Bo, if you don't even win your conference, you should not be in the NC game (Unless Bama gets put in that situation, and then I reserve the right to change my opinion)
