🌎 How technology has changed in the past half century

I can remember when I was younger (~'82-'83), my dad would bring home boxes of old punch cards from their unused machines at work. And I visited his work one time (before they moved from downtown B'ham) and they had those tape reel machines going. It was loud and cold in that room. They looked similar to these:

And now, an 8TB NVME drive is tiny in comparison...

The very first computer we had in the house was an old Compaq. That thing was so loud. You'd turn it on and hear the fans start up. A little bit later, you'd hear the hard drive start clicking. Then, what seemed to be about a minute after that, the screen would come up and you could log in. Now when I turn my computer on, I'm at the login screen in less than 10 seconds.
