He's worn out.  A friend of mine has a son that plays baseball with Kirby's son in 12U, and he tells me Kirby simply looks drained every time he sees him.  he also says he is very solitary, doesn't smile, and has zero to do with anyone.  i can imagine some of that is he wants to watch his kid and be left alone, so no issues whatsoever with that, but even after that it's a family environment for everyone involved and he just keeps to himself.
