Hey gang, I alluded to one of our new members in a post earlier that with football season just around the corner, things will start ramping up here on the site. All you long-timers know that this is our busiest time of year. For the newer people, let me talk about a few things that we'll have going on here very soon.

FREE Fantasy Football

Everybody loves 'em some free stuff right. Bamabarney has started our annual free league for fantasy football and it will be hosted on Yahoo. We may add another league if there is demand for it, but for now here is the info for the current league.

FREE College Fantasy Football

Wiseace has started a league for college fantasy football on sportsline.com. Below is the info on that.

RTB.com NCAA/NFL Pick'em

This is usually a pretty popular game for site members because the top participants get prizes. Oh, and they enjoy pick'ems too. As far as prizes go for this year, I'm open to suggestions. Historically we've offered the winners BAMA dvds of their choice, game jersies, and things of that nature. Depending on how much we can rustle up from our "coffers" we might offer something a little bigger this year.

For those that have not played before simply look to the top of the page, just beneath the site banner, and you'll find a link for Fantasy Sports. Enter there and you'll see various options for games including NCAA Pick'em and NFL Pick'em. Choose one or both games to play. Hopefully one of you can unseat the current pick'em champs BayBear and Bamabarney. BayBear won the NFL and Bowl Game Blowout last year while I beleive Bamabarney has won the NCAA portion every year we've had it.

NOTE::
Depending on when you enter into the fantasy games (today) you'll notice one of two things. (1) Either last year's results will still be up, or (2) I've cleared the system in preperation for the new season. So, don't try and make any picks just yet. I'll have to input all of the data today and this evening to get it rolling for this year. You can probably start making picks tomarrow.

For the NCAA portion we'll have another blowout to open the season. I'm looking at having upwards of 30-40 games to open week one. The NFL portion will stay the same as usual.

Anyway, those are just a few of things we've got going on at RTB.com. We encourage you guys to take advantage of this stuff and have some fun. If we decide to add additional games/contests we'll keep y'all posted.

Just an update gang; I have input some of the NCAA portion of the pick'em. Several of the games have times TBD so I will go back and update them later. I also plan on adding a few more games to the listing tomarrow.

Keep in mind that while you can go ahead and make picks now, it's always advisable to wait till the week of the game. Also, keep in mind that the time frame for making picks will revert back to a 1-week window after the initial week. So once the season actually gets going full speed you will only be able to make your NCAA/NFL picks the week of that game, not several weeks ahead of time.

So, the pick'em is partially done for the initial blowout of games. NFL and more college games will be added shortly. :)

Bamabarney needs to be dethroned in the site's pickem'.

You know the funniest part of it? Barney plays him some fantasy football and baseball and can't beat Morengo Academy. Let him pick games though and that mo-fo is unstoppable! You can only hope to contain him! He got him some pick'em skills.

I have a theory on this:

I'm pretty sure that he found a way to travel into the future and purchase a sports almanac which gives him the winning teams for the next few decades. He intentionally misses enough guesses to keep people from finding out his secret. Meanwhile, he places bets with various bookies under an assumed name to raise the money he needs to fund his chain of casinos and strip clubs.

Now, the only evidence I have to back up this theory is a candid photo of BamaBarney (if that is in fact his real name):

Now, who can guess the movie reference?

For some unexplainable reason, I'd always envisioned bamabarney as Biff Tannon! Now it all makes perfect sense!

You got that right, I have no clue about what I'm doing on fantasy football.

I knew that I was not alone in this! Now, if I could only get a recording of him making the statement, "Why don't you make like a tree and get outta here?" I just might be able to expose him for what he really is.......

Wise, my favorite line in that movie (or was it the second movie???? Anyway, in the series) was in the old west where they run into Biff and his gang.

Biff: I'm gonna shoot you down like a duck!

Biff's lackey: (leaning in) It's dog, Biff. Shoot you down like a dog.

Biff: (after dramatic pause) LET'S GO BOYS!

"That boy's about as useless as a screen door on a battleship"

Just wanted to point out that the college fantasy league will not draft unless we have all ten spots on the roster filled. The draft is set for the 20th to give everyone time to rank their picks. If the spots fill up, I will start a second leauge, as CBS only allows ten people per league.

I have had a couple of instances with the site not allowing some people to sign up. I'm not sure what causes this (my theory is that Vern Lunquist is in charge of IT), but so far I've been able to send those people personal inivitations and it has solved the problem. So, if you have trouble PM an e-mail address to me and I will send you an invite.

Roll Tide!
