I agree that the ACC is on its last leg and will probably not survive another 7 years. The product put on the field or court is important and overall the ACC does not put a good product in football. Duke and NC keep the fire burning in basketball.

I think they've slipped in basketball, too. Only four teams currently ranked, and then Clemson ten spots out based on votes received. SEC has six, with another three ahead or tied with Clemson in votes received. Big Ten, six and three, respectively. Big 12, five and one.

Two years ago, I'd have bet the Big 12 would've folded first, but now I agree the ACC might be the first.

If you’re gonna expand, expand in all sports. The Big East doesn’t generate enough money through basketball (or any sports, really) to make a contribution to the ACC. IMO, it would cause a reduction in per school payout.

Oh, contraire. They have a big advantage now.

As example with arbitrary schools.

With the House settlement St. Johns will be allowed to spend the majority of its money (currently capped at 20.5 in revenue sharing, per school) on it's basketball program.

If we jump in the car for a few hours and park at Syracuse what do we find? It's the same 20.5 in revenue sharing but now supporting a basketball program, along with football, and others. As reported, most of the P4 schools are spending 75% of the revenue on football, 15% on basketball, and the remainder on the other sports.

Now it comes down to NIL. I suspect Big East basketball players will do okay in that area.
