| FTBL For all of you JJ to linebacker lovers...

I have more than enough reason to believe we'll see your dreams coming to fruition. Reports have him working in LB sets, attending LB meetings and another talking about how he found out JJ had a change of heart as to where he wanted to play.

Just a note...take it FWIW. In other words, nothing "official" as of yet.

I'll be pleased if JJ has the gray matter to play on Saban's defense.

Head problems with JJ haven't been the ability to learn things.

He's got an advantage over some in the position in that he's been on offense so he knows how different alignments dictate certain reads.

On the same note, from an RB position it's been his responsibility to recognize different defensive schemes as well.

If he can get his "heart power" at the right level, he'll be ok. That said, I felt the same thing about some of the other players this year and that didn't work out like I had hoped. Although, year two in the Saban system, a year of spending more time on the sidelines than on the playing field have just been enough to "clear the cobwebs."

JJ's experience at Alabama has been and is the single biggest waste of talent i've ever seen in college football. i hope that changes soon.

I beg to differ. Look at a school like USC who in the recent years has gotten tons of great recruiting classes. Lots of these guys end up waiting around in the depth chart while someone else is ahead of them. I would also have to point out Felix Jones at Arky... pretty big waste of talent there. Sorry to Hijack!

lmao, yea my jaw dropped at that one too, but i think hes sayin that if it was at another school (where there isnt a Darren McFadden) he would be used more. tho i think that having McFadden in the backfield helps him out alot.

No one to fault but himself.

You know...I was friends with one of JJ's former HS coaches in MS. He told me two years ago that JJ would move to LB if it would help the team. The whole thing about JJ not wanting to move is odd to me, but then - he was told before 2006 that he would get moved back to QB and it never happened. With all the shuffling and failed promises, I don't know that I blame JJ for being a bit contrary.

I never heard any one else put it that way with regard to JJ. Food for thought, BF.

I don't know where one of his former HS coaches came up with that, but the discussion about JJ moving to LB in '06??!!?? Best guess is that is something JJ told him. I don't know. I do know that it wasn't something the staff told him (JJ) at that time. Hell, I wouldn't put it past a coach there in the state of MS to say insinuate something along those lines.

The being contrary part of his behavior is something that throws me for a loop as well. He's broken team rules under both coaching staffs. He's skipped classes under both coaching staffs. He's been suspended under both staffs.

Going into '06 he was slotted at the #2 guy in the backfield. Neither Shula or Rader had any intention of moving him to the other side of the ball.

Averaging over 9 yards a carry behind the nation's best back?

Imagine if he's a feature back at another school.
