šŸˆ šŸ”„ Hot Seat 2025 / Coaching Carousel: Golesh to AU, Kiffin to LSU.

So, is there any validity about some of the Penn State rumors that CKD would be interested in that job? I don’t have a link. I just heard an interview from earlier in the week on 94.5 about it.

Could get interesting around here too if we find a way to screw up the Iron Bowl. Not that CKD would be shown the door- but the idea that he could walk away for something else because the fire would be hot next season with a loss in the Iron Bowl and a miss on the playoffs again.
I would worry about Deboer if USC came open the most..He is definitely a West Coast guy..

Dude what difference does it make?... he does go after a lot of West Coast athletes in his recruiting.. but I definitely don't believe he would go to just any place especially cold in the winter..
It makes a difference because what you said is, essentially, wrong.

But we'll address that later, if you wish.

23 commits. Two from the west coast (if you include Utah.)

IF what you are saying is true he truly sucks at recruiting.

I said this " I would worry if USC CAME OPEN"... what in the hell would he leave Alabama for to go to Pennsylvania? It would have to be something better than Alabama could offer, in more than just money..Beaches and a huge TV market..California schools.. Penn State just not that attractive...

If you jump over to TiderInsider and look at the list of prospect that have been offered by Alabama, you'll find a list of 225 offers. Less than 20 of those offers are to players on the west coast.

Guilbeau writing for this site is something I didn't expect to see. Geez.

When I first heard about Kiffin's family in Baton Rouge my thought was "that's a quick way for the daughter to "get a little" and it's on someone else's dime."

Setting my skepticism aside ...

So, is Penn State more attractive than Bama? No. Not to me or anyone else on this board.

But. Think about it. What if we lose the iron bowl and miss the playoffs…….a quick exit to another respectable program with less expectations to me would be pretty attractive.

Penn state has expectations, but no where in the universe can you convince me that theirs are more than Alabama. I’d imagine the pressure at Bama is wayyyyyy more than pretty much anywhere else except maybe Ohio State, Michigan and Texas.

I wasn't knocking what you said.. I heard the same.. IMO USC would come after our coach very hard first... because they want his offense... and because he did do a good job at Fresno State... so that's the team I would worry about the most... to me he would commit career suicide if he left for anything less than Alabama ( like Penn State) ... plus I just don't believe he would fit in there.. but that's just my opinion..

I don’t know.

I kinda think he’s a better fit at Penn State or even Notre Dame than at Bama. Not due to his previous coaching experience, recruiting or any of that. He just seems that type of guy to me.

🤷

He’s viewed as a top 5 coach in CFB, despite what some of our own fans think. Other major schools are going to reach out when they have an opposing. ā€œJust to seeā€¦ā€ Same thing Marcus Freeman and his agent in dealing with. Doesn’t mean interest is mutual. It does mean however that someone like Sexton can use it to squeeze the situation if need be (I don’t see that happening here in year two under the current circumstances).

But Hot Boards and Vegas odds are usually a terrible indicator of who a new hire will be. I think up until this past weekend, Vegas still had Saban the favorite to be the new LSU coach. Which was about as likely as Bama bringing back Shula next year if DeBoer left.

Does anybody believe that Saban is actively involved recruiting Kiffin to LSU? Nick Saban would have to announce it for me to believe. Glenn selling hopium for clicks.

So why would he say this and then go and active push for Kiffin to get the job at LSU? Doesn't make sense.

The college football coaching world is watching LSU right now.. they want to see if they keep their promise to Coach Kelly and the contract... Is LSU going to pay what they promised him?..If they don't Kiffin won't go..
