šŸˆ šŸ”„ Hot Seat 2025 / Coaching Carousel: Golesh to AU, Kiffin to LSU.

Ive had a while to stew and get over Friday night. But what I saw broke my heart for that football team. I dont share my personal life in here a lot, but I went to school and played for Pike county. Reason I even got involved with their gameplan and install at all is because a former teammate asked me to help out with certain areas this week. Like helping stop their run game, went over all kinds of different things to help with it. Went over how they could fit it, like stack fitting, or plugging their ILB's. Went over triangle reads and how we could structure it to the level where it could be easier for the players to diagnose it down pre-snap, to post-snap.

The gameplan all week was finding a way to make these guys one dimensional, and it we just couldn't stop them.

And a reason for this is we just could not match up personnel wise with them. I don't know how many of you are familiar with Pike county, but we used to be a powerhouse in football. And a reason for that is we had great players every year, and the depth to match it. I think we still have the talent, but we absolutely do not have the depth needed to be a state championship program anymore. We had 7-8 guys having to play both sides of the ball all game because if not, then there would be no one to play that position. It's mind blowing to me seeing this. And it breaks my heart.

Coach hurt is a fantastic coach, and they have Cornelius Griffin on staff as well. But seeing the state they are in now, it's hard for a coach to be successful.

Im still mulling it over, but I'm seriously considering asking to be on that staff full-time next year as their ILB's coach. I don't want to be the DC, that's coach hurts and Im not going to over step my boundaries. If I ask, and he accepts, I'm going back to help in any way I can. This place used to be a football giant, now it's to the point it's at now. I want to help fix their issues on the field, which is mainly the depth issue. I don't know if kids aren't just playing nowadays, or if that school is having issues with its attendance numbers that could be leading to this. But I want to find out and help. Because I don't want to see what happened Friday night ever happen again to this team.

You know we were all pulling for you Scrape! I hate to hear your guys didn’t pull out the W, but I’m confident they are better today than the were the day before you started helping out. I hope the coach will let you join the staff and enhance their LB play. There’s no doubting you understand that side of the ball and all that goes along with it. Coaching is a huge time commitment, but if you are willing to put the time in, the program and kids will be better off!

Appreciate it, and these guys did all they could all week. We ran into a powerhouse and unfortunately, we just could not deal with them.

I do sports photography with my daughter & I had to explain to an assistant coach that they could fair catch the short pop-up kickoffs. He then explained to the head coach & they started doing it (lost possession on 5 kickoffs in 2 games). I couldn’t believe NONE of a high school coaching staff didn’t know this.
I told him if someone would take their headset off & COACH the players instead of trying to look like Boyz 2 Men that they would have a much better team.

Mind telling what team that was? Lol.

Pike County.......in the thriving metropolis of Brundidge Alabama, come on!!

I growed up in Dothan and back in the late 80's early 90's Pike County was something else. They fed them fellas 13-13-13 fertilizer or something, I remember their lines on both sides of the ball were freaking huge!!!
I grew up in Abbeville and Brundidge beat the crap out of us! Like you said, freakin giants! At least it seemed that way when you lined up with them.
