all this BCS crap...and now Tebow wins the heisman....

Im ready for a new leader in sports.

What took you so long?

Oh, and don't forget about O.J. Mayo either. He's their new new boy. They're propping him non-stop during the weekly basketball schedule. Heck, I've seen USC play more in the last 3 weeks than I have in all my life. All of a sudden USC is on ESPN 24/7 and I'm seeing O.J. Mayo commercials daily.

Get ready for the new love fest. After all, if O.J. was in Iraq the war would be over. If O.J. was a scientist cancer would be cured.

I've just HAD IT with ESPN! I've absolutely had it with them. I simply cannot stand to watch the BS that goes on there any more. God help us if we don't get another competing network.

Gosh Chopper, fantasy baseball season hasn't started yet. What else could possibly be causing your cramps?

j/k. I'll keep my eye out for O.J. Mayo. His name doesn't sound too appetizing, though.

By the way, O.J. may not be a scientist or doctor, but he does have a clinic named after him. :D

I couldn't agree more!

I'd guess I'm standing by myself here.

ESPN had nothing to do with the BCS, so I don't understand that comment.

Granted, a few of them had a vote in the Heisman, but out of 870 something votes I can't see them being part of the blame as well.

I suppose, a lot of this stems from things they say on air. Me? I say, "so what!" I don't watch ESPN for their commentary, I watch it for the sports they provide.

Oh well...

Your not saying that the things that they say and the garbage that they spew doesn't have an effect on people, are you?

Tebow should have one, no question.. He was unbeleivable this year... The man can do it all! But I agree, ESPN is turning in the CNN of sports. Stick to Fox, they keep their uncalled for opinions out of it.. Just wish they offered better programming..

People? Sure.

BCS? I can't see a coach staying up late to watch what the Gameday crew has to say about games. I can't say it would effect those who vote in the Harris poll as well.

Heisman? Again, a few of them have a vote. But, as little respect for most in the media, that's a toss up.

My point was more along the lines of people may not like what ESPN has to say, and who they proclaim to be they guy, but it doesn't make one bit of difference to me one way or another.

I put as much value in their opinions as I do in Holtz' pep talks.

I see so many talk about how they hate ESPN's guys one day and as soon as they give props to an opinion they also hold suddenly they have jumped to the other side of the fence.

Like I said earlier, I may be all alone with my feelings toward these guys. Heck, I don't mind pointing out where they are wrong but it doesn't mean I'm going to dis-respect or "hate-on" them.

Oh well...no big deal.

I personally cannot stand ESPN even though at one time I loved to watch Sportscenter etc...When we are going through the coaching search though it got a little old to hear Bama being made fun of almost on a daily basis..I mean I see them makes jokes about other teams but when it came to Bama it was almost as if they were going out of their way to do so..not to mention jokes about the South in general.

My post (just so there's no confusion) isn't really about Tebow's winning the Heisman as much as it is about ESPN's propping and hyping in general of certain players/teams. I'm just so sick of turning over to ESPN and seeing the same thing day after day after day after day. They're not even reporting sports anymore. They're a cheerleading squad with a spin. It's shameless.

They're like the Dick Vitale of sports programming. People complain all the time about Vitale and how he can interject his "Coach K and the Dukies" into every possible scenario. No matter how far removed from Duke you could possibly be, Vitale will instantly remind you (though it has absolutely nothing to do with what you're watching) how wonderful Duke and Coach K are. Heck, the game he's covering could be Alabama A&M against Alaska-Anchorage and Dickie V will make sure to tell you just how wonderful Coach K is, and how we're fortunate enough to have him. That's my problem with ESPN and their coverage. It's always a huge BS extraveganza.

I was just asking. I thought you were saying that they didn't really have an effect on people. Thanks for clearing it up.

Well, I hate ESPN's opinions and their influence on sports...but when it comes down to it. I get my "fix" by watching highlights on ESPN...EVERY night.
