As the portal season winds down there is something I have been wondering about. How much stock do you put into portal rankings? For example, right now LSU is #1 and Bama is at 30. Bama has not taken that many transfers, and they have not gotten the highest-ranked players in the portal. But does it matter? If Auburn gets the number one receiver in the portal and Bama gets the 8th ranked receiver, does that mean anything? In my opinion the portal is about filling needs, not winning the player lottery. But what do you think? Should Bama be trying to get the highest ranked players out there? Or just fill needs with the best fit?
