There was an interview with LaRon Landry about Mathieu where he said he thought LSU's suspension for one game for using K2 was a "slap on the hand" and that was pretty indicative of how he was handled.  As I recall, the interview was in 2012 before the season started and it was referring to the LSU game versus Auburn.  Landry adopted that mentor role with Mathieu.

I'm fairly sure it was Jon Solomon who penned the report although I recall Scarbinsky weighing in on the subject as well.  At that time, based on what was reported, LSU wasn't the only school in the SEC that tested for K2. I believe there were as many as seven that had that in their drug protocol (while the NCAA was still trying to develop their's.)  Alabama was one of those mentioned as a school that tested for K2.

(I remember this largely due to what was happening with Ole Miss players a few years later.  When that report was published, six of the seven schools in the SEC west had test for K2--Ole Miss was the lone exception.  I also recall South Carolina as one of the schools from the east that had their protocol in place.)

This was all about the same time we saw those players from Auburn being arrested and one admitting he was smoking K2 the night before that armed robbery.  (Bullshit excuse, but that's another subject for another day.)
