A couple of thousand dollars is a month of pay for many families, more than a month for some. It isn't meant to help folks who make $75K or higher ($150K for married folks) as we should have been saving for something like this anyway. There isn't a good solution for how to mute the impact to everyone. The one that got me was when they were saying we should just extend unemployment instead of giving out cash. If you are out of work 2-4 weeks that cash will help make up the pitiful unemployment they give out. Extending it won't do crap.
