As long as it's civil discourse I don't see discussions as futile. I'd agree trying to change peoples mind is a futile attempts in a lot of cases. Suggesting a pause to look at things like WHO and their statements in reference to the timing of the administration's actions is a salient suggestion...at least in my view it is.
