I was a tool & die maker / moldmaker for 32 years with a tad bit over 25 years in automotive manufacturing. I have screamed for years as my craft was slowly spread over LCCs (low cost countries). It will take 12-15 years to get it where it should be. There is a shortage of toolmakers and the average age is around 58 like me. I say all of this to point out that manufacturing doesn’t happen without toolmakers to help design and to build completely the special machinery & tooling to manufacture. Desperate need for appropriate vocational training with apprenticeships. Then eliminate all of the tech VISAs that Silicon Valley lives of

10 years of relative isolationism would do the countries of the world a lot of good.
