No script to read the article, but this would be great news.

Congrats, Mr. Cody. Welcome to the family.

Does this mean that he will be reporting in June? That would be a huge help to the young man in terms of getting 400lbs up to SABAN-speed.

Terry, what doe this mean for Motley?

I can't answer the question on Motley. My gut says he comes back on the defensive line but I weigh that against thoughts of how much of this depends on Murphy. Dareus making the grades throws another wrench in the mix. (Heck, I'm enjoying the hell out of this...whens the last time we've talked about a number of prospects on the lines that we wondered where they would end up knowing they can contribute no matter where?)

In this case, qualify means cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse (according to Cody) which means he'll report in June.

Odds and Ends on the recruiting forum discusses a little on both guys.

Man it has been a very long time since we were able to talk like that. Feels good!!!

I can't wait to see Brad Lester try to shoot the gap through him. lol. I hope TC gives him a clothes line the way Bob Sapp did on Stone Cold Steve Austin in The Longest Yard. "I think I made him s**t himself." :D

it amused me reading some AU folks' responses after Cody committed. some said that because he was so big that there was no way to be effective, and that theres no way his footwork can be that great, etc. but you can't just footwork away 6'5" and 400 lbs on the D-line. you have to account for that somewhere, double teaming or chipping with a TE, something. he may not get a sack every down, but i think he will be consistant at if nothing else disrupting the play, especially on running plays.

He's not as slow as they think he'll be. He's one of my friends on myspace and he has a highlight video on there of just him. The very first play on the video, he grabs one guy and bodyslams the crap out of him. Everytime a RB tries to run by him, he has such amazing reach that he just grabs them by the back of the shirt and pulls them back to the back field. He might not be the fastest person on the line, but he'll make a RB think twice about running up the middle. He's scary lookin on the field. If I can get that video, I'll post it on here.

I've seen that video a few times. Granted, he'll be facing better opposition at the SEC level, but you'll notice there isn't one situation where the offensive line gets any forward progress. It's either they stop, or go backwards.

That goes to show they know nothing about the NG's responsibility in a 3-4 defense.

...not that I'm surprised.

exactly. the closest in size OL AU has is a few inches shorter and 100 lbs less that Cody. you can't tell me 100 lbs isn't going to make a difference, otherwise we would have WR on the DL. i would love to see TC and big Andre go one on one in practices some, just for grins and giggles. now THAT would be a sight. it would be like a Godzilla movie. :D

I didn't realize that they actually put him in at fullback like that...that's pretty impressive that he has the mobility to do that, even though it's on the two yard line. Nonetheless he has great mobility for a guy his size.
