| FTBL Coach Saban's New Website - Must See

A website that was one of the worst coach sites around has changed. It is now a site that has been designed by Blue Chip Athletic Solutions and is very, very nice.

It is Flash heavy and looks sharp. If you went to the old site and couldn't believe how bad it was, you have to check out the new site.

I haven't seen too many coach sites that are better than this one, and that is not a homerish opinion.

http://www.coachsaban.net/

Not only is it an up to date and competent looking site, but it is geared towards recruits. It seems that anything Coach Saban does is somehow tied to recruiting.

For proof of this, read the article about Blue Chip Athletic Solutions here:

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/columns/story?id=3236533

"What programs can do is send e-mails to recruits (as of Sept. 1 their junior year), and Bluechip Athletic Solutions LLC and CyberSports are two of the few companies that develop Web sites targeted specifically for recruits.

Florida hired Bluechip to run www.CoachUrbanMeyer.com. Florida State recently signed a contract with the company and launched www.FearTheSpear.com, alerting recruits via a mass e-mail. The site features rosters, a video of the national championship team and instructional videos from coaches."

Yep.

It is an intensive site though and takes up a good bit of processing power. I have a decent processor, a dual-core Pentium which is kind of out of date now, and the site uses around 35-40% of my processing power.

I am not sure how some folks with just slightly older computers may fare. Just a warning to anyone visiting the site.

LOL. I doubt it.

Ill upgrade on day!!!

Maybe if i can find a way to use my bama bucks on paypal!

No rush, therolltide. Wait another 10 years to make sure you aren't making a rash decision.

All joking aside though, I have a receipt from my first purchase of a "store bought" computer. I had some before this one, but I built them.

This was a screamer at the time, back in '96. Cutting edge technology. I remember a buddy of mine saying that the 1.2GB HD was unbelievable, that I could probably never fill it up.

WOW...i was thinking about that the other day. Imagine in 10 more years what we are going to be able to do.

As soon as your buy a computer its already outdated!!

It was outdated when they built it. And now with Nanotechology its just going to get smaller and faster and more intense!!!!

I cant wait!!!

And $1999 thats alot!! That was like 50,000 grand now right? :D

I didn't read your age until just now. You are 20, so that would have made you 8 years old when I bought it.

A complete waste of money now that I ruminate on it. And it was the equivalent of a little over 50,000 dollars in today's money.

Like you say, it is outdated as soon as you buy it. I think I am going to hang onto the one I have until it literally blows up. I've learned my lesson over the years.

$1999.00

LMAO...

A quarter of that today and you walk out of your local Walmart with a serviceable laptop.

FWIW CAD, they upgraded that site a few months ago...it was before the season. But, the link today reflects even more upgrades.

I'm beginning to wonder if they work on these sites every quarter?

Man, that's very close to the first computer I purchased as well. Just looking at the specs, they were identical. I bought mine from Best Buy for about the same price. Funny thing is, my Packard Bell took a crap about two weeks after we bought it. They had the WORST customer service in the world! NO toll free number and long wait times. It cost me money just in long distance calls to get the thing fixed!

Ahh the good ol'days!

Yep, good 'ole Packard Bell's. Nothing like them. I never had too many problems with mine, but it was real quirky.

Just for the record, we were both probably ripped off.

I didn't know that, Terry. The last time I looked at it it was still the poorly conceived site that looked like a 3rd grader designed it.

I thought I had checked it more recently than the beginning of the season but, I could be wrong.

I do know that when this design company got it, the domain name was changed from

http://coachsaban.net

to

http://www.coachsaban.net

I didn't notice the domain name change. www.Rollwiththetide.com is redirected there as well.

I still wonder how often they update that site. The last highlight video is Arkansas. I'm surprised we don't see Clemson and Georgia, but that's just me.

FWIW, and it may have been mentioned here, but under the video section, if you click on Coach Saban, there is a piece about his "home town" life.

You got that right. It's nice and all, and has a ton of bells and whistles, but that's not really my bag. I'd rather just be able to get in and look for what I want instead of having to go through the whole shabang that you're greeted with currently on there.

It's nice, but just a little too much for me.
