The Heisman Trophy Odds is normally awarded in December but the 2020 winner will be presented on Jan. 5, 2021.

Similar to other events this season, the ceremony will be held virtually with the finalists appearing on television. The voting deadline for the Heisman Trophy will be Monday, Dec. 21 and the Heisman finalists will be announced on Thursday, Dec. 24.

The betting markets for the Heisman Trophy have been active all season and the extra time added should create more fluctuation as teams miss or make up games.

Bettors following this market on a weekly basis have already seen plenty of moves and the oddsmakers have shifted their numbers again.

There is a new favorite this week after Alabama quarterback Mac Jones tossed four touchdowns and racked up 385 passing yards in a 55-17 blowout of LSU.

Jones is now the odds-on favorite at FanDuel Sportsbook to capture the award as the junior has thrown 23 touchdown passes this season.

Jones will square off opposite Florida in the SEC title game this month, as Gators' QB Kyle Trask is sitting at +110 odds to win the Heisman. Trask led Florida to a 31-19 victory at Tennessee, as he tossed four touchdowns to bring his season total to 34.

The 2020 SEC Championship is scheduled for Saturday Dec. 19, so the winner of this game might not just decided the conference championship but also this year's Heisman Trophy.

2020 HEISMAN TROPHY ODDS CONTENDERS

(School) Odds
  • Mac Jones (Alabama) -135
  • Kyle Trask (Florida) +110
  • Justin Fields (Ohio State) +2000
  • Trevor Lawrence (Clemson) +2000
The one quarterback who has fallen back in the pack is preseason favorite Trevor Lawrence. The Clemson signal-caller missed two games to testing positive for COVID-19 and the game he was due to return, the Tigers' game at Florida State was postponed. Lawrence is currently at 20/1 odds to become the Heisman Trophy winner after struggling against Virginia Tech by throwing for 195 yards, a touchdown, and interception.

2020 HEISMAN TROPHY MID-TIER LONG SHOTS
(School) Odds
  • DeVonta Smith (Alabama) +3000
  • Ian Book (Notre Dame) +6000
Alabama wide receiver DeVonta Smith (30/1) hauled in eight receptions for 231 yards and three touchdowns in the Crimson Tide's rout of LSU to improve to 9-0.
Notre Dame quarterback Ian Book (60/1) hasn't posted the numbers of Jones or Trask, but has thrown 12 touchdown passes compared to only one interception this season.

Listed below are odds on players per FanDuel Sportsbook.

I wonder if Mac Jones may lose some votes due to Devonta and Najee? Could this split votes enough to prevent Mac from winning?

One would hope that his touchdown passing numbers will be looked at as favorably as Trask's simply due to Najee having 20 and Florida having no running game. On top of that, I'm guessing Jones has played fewer minutes than Trask due to our blowouts, whereas Florida is having to play all four quarters to be where they are at.

and Florida gets to 1 yardline..trask is throwing...and throwing
Trask is playing whole game.... mac is sitting 4th quarter..

but... he is damn good....accurate...reminds me of burrow in pocket...cool and collective

Will be interesting to see where the voter's outside of the south lean. Too often, voters vote for their own regional guys, but most all the headliners are in the south (and none are out west). For the Bama guys, Mac has the best shot since he's a QB and its a so much of a QB award now. DeVonta is the best player of the entire bunch and also deserving. My concern is they will split so many votes, that it will allow someone else to get it. But, the Bama/UF game will go a long way in deciding how Mac, DeVonta, and Trask fare with many.

Hold on a second....
Its been going for 2 years now...the Auburn phenom Nix was going to win...and probably back to back to back...

so..I am going all in on Nix... poohy on Trask,Mac, Smith, Book....or the rest...
Listen to the dreamers....listen

Am I the only one that did not think Lawrence would win a Heisman trophy, especially after the media love fest that said he would win atleast two? It just goes to my belief that he benefitted from weak weak competition. He has issues when hurried. He has gotten better with taking off now instead of sailing the ball, but he still has trouble with it. Great arm, great size, and limitless ability, but I just never saw him as the world's greatest ever like folks proclaimed.

Mac and Davonta simply earned their pass to New York, no questions asked. Mac had to get the ball to Davonta, and Davonta had to work some magic once he caught it, so both are deserving and no one relied on the other any more than they did each other.

If Mac were to win it, that would be major, in my opinion. To think of how many great quarterbacks BAMA has had over the years that never won it (AJ came in 2nd in 2013). And 2 of them, Joe Namath and Kenny Stabler, are National Champions (I don't care what anyone says about the '66 season; they were champions.....F@#% Notre Dame), Super Bowl Champions, and Hall of Fame inductees.

So to put him in that category with those guys is pretty special.
